Go to a place relevant (virtual or in-person) to your beat (List what you hear and see, plus one story idea. Blog about it on your beat blog). Crime beats can scan a police blotter, orcampus safety report, or public record. Summarize a possible story idea.

Recently, there was a break in at the CAU Suites on campus. A student’s dorm room was vandalized and several things were stolen. I went to check out the area where the break in had taken place. I went to see if the freshman at the entrance of the dorm were talking about what had happened. While I did not hear any students talking about the incident, I could feel that the atmosphere around the dorm was a little tense. There were more campus police outside than usual. According to the news and Instagram, there were some clothes missing, but the perpetrators had made a huge mess in the dorm room. A story idea I have is to follow up with the continuing investigation around the area and interview students on how they feel about this dramatic experience on campus.
